| Country Male Performer of the Year was announced in Sydney on June 17th at the Australian Entertainment 'MO' Awards and the winner is: WAYNE HORSBURGH! This was great news, while I was actually in Nashville, Tennessee. This makes my fifth MO Award and I am very proud to be recognized by my peers back home in Australia. Its nice to be back in the Ozark Mountains for another season. This year will see a few changes to my usual schedule as I spend more time around the Branson area and not travel as much. My time back in Australia had me traveling from as far north as Townsville in Queensland to many towns and cities through Victoria in the south and everywhere in between. My Sydney Agent, Lynne James, kept me busy with shows, but I also spent quality time with my family. I spent many hours in the recording studio working on a new CD which is now available in Australia and here in the USA. The new recording is entitled Born Free and features many of the easy listening songs from the 50s and 60s. Many of these songs were made famous by singers such as Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Bobby Vinton, Al Martino and Matt Monro. There are also some country songs included with a little touch of Slim Whitman, Frank Ifield, Ray Price and Marty Robbins. This website now features the new Born Free CD, so check it out. My parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March, with visitors from as far away as Canada and throughout Australia attending the special day in my home town of Benalla, in Victoria. During my time in the USA this year I will be doing a few shows at Bakersville, near Mansfield, Missouri. Home of the famous Heirloom Seed Company at Baker Creek, this quaint little farm with a Western Town style setting has grown into a tourist destination. I have just returned from Nashville, Tennessee and also performed at Kentucky Down Under theme park. I will be going to Sandstone, Minnesota in early September for another taping of the MidWest Country Theatre for RFD-TV. I am booked to perform with the HorseCreek Band at Silver Dollar City during September and October for the Harvest Festival. The festival will be a "Salute to the American Cowboy" but also pays tribute to the American Farmers, giving me a chance to sing all those Country and Western songs and feature my cowboy yodels that people love to hear. When I return to Australia in November, I will once again be touring with the Howie Brothers Band, as we visit Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria. Check out my Australian touring schedule to keep updated on my travels down under. Hope to catch up with you sometime during 2008! Cheers, Wayne June 25, 2008 |
