Country Male Performer of the Year was announced in Sydney on June 17th at the Australian Entertainment 'MO' Awards and the winner is:

WAYNE HORSBURGH!

This was great news, while I was actually in Nashville, Tennessee. This makes my fifth ‘MO’ Award and I am very proud to be recognized by my peers back home in Australia.

Then came more good news that I was once again a final nominee in the 2008 Australian Club Entertainment (ACE) Awards held in Sydney in October. Congratulations to Troy Cassar-Daley who won the ‘Male Country Performer’ Award.

I enjoyed my time in the Ozarks during the USA Summer months. This year had a few changes to my usual schedule as I spent more time around the Branson area and did not travel as much. My Wisconsin fans will be pleased to know that I plan to return to do some shows in 2009.

My brand new recording entitled ‘Born Free’ has been popular in the USA, Australia and New Zealand and features many of the ‘easy listening’ songs from the 50’s and 60’s. Most of these songs were made famous by singers such as Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Bobby Vinton, Al Martino and Matt Monro. There are also some country songs included with a little touch of Slim Whitman, Frank Ifield, Ray Price and Marty Robbins. This website now features the new ‘Born Free’ CD, so check it out. Josh Heston did a great job with the cover design and booklet.

During my time in the USA in 2008 I did a few shows at Bakersville, near Mansfield, Missouri. Home of the famous Heirloom Seed Company at Baker Creek, this quaint little farm with a Western Town style setting has grown into a tourist destination.
I also spent time in Nashville, Tennessee and then performed at ‘Kentucky Down Under’ theme park. A made a quick trip to Sandstone, Minnesota in early September for another taping of the MidWest Country Theatre for RFD-TV.

I took part in the ‘Southern Gospel Picnic’ at Silver Dollar City in August, backed by the HorseCreek Band. This festival was well attended and I look forward to doing it again in 2009. I am also hoping to record a new Gospel CD and have it available for that festival.

During September, I performed each day with the HorseCreek Band at Silver Dollar City for the “National Harvest Festival”. This festival was a "Salute to the Great American Cowboy" and then during October, we payed tribute to the “American Farmer”.

Now that I’m back home in Australia, I will be kept busy ‘on tour’ with the Howie Bros. Band during late November into early December, this time visiting Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria. I will also be performing in the Sydney Clubs during the Aussie Summer months, as well as two trips to New Zealand so be sure to check out my Australian touring schedule to keep updated on my travels ‘down under’.

Regards,
Wayne
